How Reflexology can help with Sleep

Both physically and mentally we need sleep to function.

While asleep your body is working to support healthy brain function, maintain physical health, and allow itself time to repair.  Without the chance for your body to self repair and recover  through sleep deprivation you are running the risk of reduced energy levels and memory as well and affecting your mood which is regulated by your sleep.

Getting just one bad nights sleep can have an impact the following day.

There are lots of ways in which you can try to improve sleep health, for example:

  • Focus on sleep quality and make your bedroom a space of calm and relaxation
  • A good diet and exercise is a great way to promote good sleep
  • Have a nice cup of relaxing herbal tea before going to bed
  • Get into a good sleep routine
  • Avoid caffeinated drinks, sugary foods and alcohol before going to bed.  For many of us it's best not to have caffeine after around noon
  • Avoid looking a technology (including smart phone and computers) at least an hour before going to bed.

These are just a few of my suggestions, but have you considered reflexology as an alternative way to improve your sleep?

A reflexology treatment can induce deep relaxation. But also by working on specific reflexes associated with areas that are impacted by sleep loss, it is calming for the nervous system, improves mood and  helps to reduce stress as well as promoting relaxation.
