Some suggestions to help promote our Heart Health

How often do we hear people talk about our heart health these days?  It can sound quite overwhelming but it's so important that we take note.

Maintaining good heart health is crucial for our overall wellbeing.  There is so much we can do for ourselves everyday to help, and the best news is, that it's never too late to start.

A balanced diet , regular exercise and avoiding smoking as well as managing stress and getting a good nights sleep are all important for heart health.

There are several points we can consider when thinking about heart health, and these are our connected to our Lifestyle Choices:

  • Smoking:  if you are a smoker, you should be aware that smoking is known to increase the risk of heart disease.
  • Alcohol consumption should be kept in moderation.
  • Stress should be managed if possible.
  • We should be aiming for at least 7 hours sleep a night if possible.
  • A good diet, eating plenty of fruit, vegetables, whole grains and protein sources.
  • Regular exercise doesn't have to be daunting.  If you're not used to being active, start with a thirty minute walk a day and build on this bit by bit by introducing other forms of exercise.
